The Jaw and Pelvic Connection
I just got out of an amazing workshop on the connection between the jaw and the pelvis.
These are common areas of tension, particularly in times of high stress. Working with these sensitive areas, linked by the spinal cord and the vagus nerve, can create more ease for the nervous system. They also feel incredibly deep and nourishing.
These moves are powerful--in the workshop space there were so many groans and big breaths, and even tears and laughter.
We get so many social cues to be quiet, restrained, and polite, when most of us are holding in a LOT of anger and grief. Weird sounds, breathing, shaking, screaming...these are all primal ways the body has to express stress and tension.
When the body doesn't get to express, it absorbs. Particularly in the sensitive areas of the body like the jaw and hips. Makes sense why so many of us clench and grind our teeth in the night, right?
If you're interested in this kind of work, I'd love to see you soon! All your weird sounds and expressions are welcome :)
